Dom Famularo in Uruguay:

Thursday 20 of September of 2007 the famous Musician DOM FAMULARO visited Uruguay for the second time. DOM is one of the more known Drummers in the world and its name perfectly is identified in our country.
It visited by courtesy of SABIAN Cymbals and "PALACIO DE LA MUSICA" Music Store of Montevideo.
His MASTER CLASSES for Drummers were selected more of once like the best ones. Selected & voted like "BEST CLINICIAN" in agreement to the thousands of readers of prestigious Magazine "MODERN DRUMMER" of United States.
For 38 years DOM has been dedicated to play its Drums and their beloveds but "punished" Cymbals. Almost for one decade he has been THE WORLD SABIAN AMBASSADOR. This means that he crosses all the Planet playing in more than 60 Countries per year and their knowledge are translated to more than 20 different Languages.
Every year these "Solo Tours" are registered in the eyes and ears of thousand of Drummers and other Musicians of very different Cultures... in their photos... on their movile phones... and many specialized Publications from Europe, like "BATERÍA TOTAL" of Spain, and Latin America, like "BATERISTAS AL SUR" of Argentine.

The last year we found out about Dom Famularo playing MAPEX Drums of Taiwan and he is a MAPEX Endorser now. It is always good for knowing that the Drums that I have since 1994 is the same a Master in this Art creates his Music ...

We wished to say other aspects of DOM FAMULARO: Its MUSICAL TALENT that it has developed throughout almost 4 decades of trajectory. It had the luck to have Teachers like Joe Morello, Master in "Snare Drums Techniques" and Louie Bellson, the pioneer of the Double Bass Drums Technique. DOM is author of the book "IT´s YOUR MOVE". A BOOK of Innovating Drums Techniques and also an Self-Help Book.
Similarly as he said it here in Uruguay, FAMULARO affirms that there are other qualities more important that the fact to seat in front of a lot of Drums and Cymbals and playing really really fast ...

DOM made us see that the most important thing is the NATURAL GIFT that each person has. The CAPACITY to make Music ... This is a GIFT... All the people cannot PLAY the DRUMS. Therefore, when one receives a GIFT, which must do is to SHOW it, to SHARE IT... He does not have to remain in his room, in his cellar or his garage playing Music in solitaire ... He must SHOW to the greater amount of people of the World ...

DRUMMING is what we KNOW to do ... that is what we are ... that is what we living for ... with the PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS of each one ... without paying attention if that one Drummer playing more fast, if he has more Drums than me, if he playing in a Rock Band more famous than mine ... Each Person, each Drummer is born with a SPECIAL GIFT and THAT is what distinguishes him to others. A Drummer must to FIND HIS OWN SOUND.
CREATIVITY FIRST. The Creativity of each Musician. What each one have inside. We must SHOW it and express what we have inside ... our feelings and our SOUL are expressed through our MUSIC ... Through our Drums, through our Cymbals & ours Drumheads ... We must be very careful when we go to CHOOSE & Buy our different Musical Instruments, because they are going to be OUR VOICE in the Music World ...

DOM is a KIND PERSON. GONZALO FARRUGIA, personal friend of DOM and our friend, already had commented us the amiability, charisma and the pleasant thing to talk with him. "You are going to see that you speak different languages but he is going to do all that is possible to be understood" said Gonzo to me.
I had verified it in 3 or 4 mails that "The Teacher" had answered to me and we could verify it personally when he visited our Country !!

We knew what we are going to see. The "Teatro del Centro" Theater was full 2 weeks ago (250 tickets). "Palacio de la Música" Music Store send the tickets totally free. This theater was small for this unique occasion ... but the Uruguayan Drummers had the advantage of to have seen "The Teacher" to 2 or 3 meters of distance, which does not happen in other places where the concurrence is massive.
Dom Famularo DO NOT defraud us, which we went to see, to listen and to feel, we received it fully.
His Talent ... his Charisma ... his Kind of Person ... his refined Drums Techniques ... his Power in complete Relax or "Control of the Chaos" ... his speed and Double Bass Technique ... his exhibitions in the Hi-Hats Cymbal in the style of Buddy Rich and Steve Smith ... his ability like AMBIDEXTEROUS ...
DOM recommends to PLAY with "Parallel Forearms", like Billy Cobham has been doing for 40 years. To develop both arms in equal form. If we do not play like AMBIDEXTEROUS, we play 80% with the strong hand and only 20% with the weak hand. The weak hand never finished to developing.
We learned with his wise words to value the CREATIVITY and the EXPRESSION of each one ... we enjoyed his humor ... the interaction with children and adults ... his personal experiences and anecdotes acquired in hundreds of trips and several complete returns to the World ... his NEW Projects ... In a few words: HIS MUSIC.

Thanks DOM to inspire to us to continue growing like Drummers and Kind People ...
It does not matter what Musical Style we PLAY, our Race, Language, Belief, Age, Country or our Culture ... Only our Natural Gift, Soul, Expressions and OUR SOUND must to be Important !!
